Blogging's cousin...Vlogging

In this technology blog we have talked about blogging and social networking. Today, I want to tell you about Vlogging. Jim Blue, former anchor at WNWO TV 24 in Toledo has launched "Jim Blue's Toledo Media Vlog" (http://www.jimblue.com/Flash/MediaVlog%207_22_08.html) Check it out, although I will let you know, he basically lays it out as he sees it in Toledo area media. He has recently left WNWO and is using this method (along with LinkedIn) to building a network and a following. Great use of technology!

Let us know what you think. Email Jim if you have any comments. I did and he responded back within a few hours!

Have you run across any vlogs lately?

Recover-wii

Walk into Rehabilitation Services at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee and you may be surprised to see patients playing on a Wii. The Wii system was funded through a grand from the St. Luke's Hospital Foundation. According to Sue Serrato, manager of Rehabilitation Serivces, the Wii "incorporates total body movements." Serrato adds that the system provides multisensory feedback which "aids in brain healing after a stroke and nerve-ending healing following injury or surgery." Additionally patients find themselves really enjoying the therapy.

This brings to question, how many health care providers have never touched a gaming system? How can our centers be a catalyst for change or a provider of training to help in this arena?

Alter Ego Required?

If you are an avid blogger, you might find a point in time where you need to separate your work blogging from your personal blogging. Or do you feel that blogging on college time is even proper?

In addition to maintaining this blog I host one for our division and one for our college's participation in the We are IT initiative. I use the same profile on each as they are somewhat related in my eyes. I also enjoy blogging on outside interests such as NASCAR and politics and do that under separate cover. My thought is that I'm not hiding who I am, but I don't necessarily want a straight line connecting the dots. Topics like religion, politics, etc, can be divisive and potentially hurt your business in some ways.

What do you think? Does it matter? Do you have separate persona's online?
