We have touched upon various Web 2.0 technologies here. In today's Inside Higher Ed is an article titled "Will Colleges Friend Facebook?"
Facebook originally had more of a student-centered following, but has recently expanded beyond that. What has been lacking is official sites for the colleges. Therefore, what one enterprising company looks to do is develop applications for colleges to create a presence on the social networking site. Inigral has developed "Schools" and has been testing it in beta form at Abilene Christian University. The application offers security to ease the schools' concerns and ability to integrate with school data to display class related information.
