In our last post we learned about a project called Jing. This time we are looking at a social network called Ning. Ning combines elements of a website, blog and social networking. On a Ning site you can store video, host a blog and a forum, add widgets and gadgets, advertise upcoming events and more! Ning is a network of networks. You can be invited to join or as you look around you might find some of interest and request to join. Networks I have found include NECC (National Educational Computing Conference) 2008, The Innovative Educator, Classroom 2.0 and Web 2.0 for teachers. The last 3 sites tend to lean more to the K-12 crowd, but do have good information.
The EON IT project now has a network on Ning as well. Visit us at http://eonohioit.ning.com/. I have uploaded a tutorial to this site on how to blog from Word 2007, have listed upcoming events and included an RSS feed to this blog. Check it out and join us!
